William E. Roehl, 82 of North Haven died peacefully on Wednesday, August 26, 2020 at Yale-New Haven Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Catherine Zampano Roehl. Bill was born in New Haven on May 18, 1938, a son of the late Herbert and Mary O’Neill Roehl. He lived in New Haven for most of his life, then moved to Northford where he resided for thirty one years, and had lived in North Haven for the past twelve years. Bill owned and operated Fountain’s Garage of New Haven for ten years. He later worked as a truck driver for Standard Electric for six years, retiring in 2006. In addition to his wife, Bill is survived by a son, William H. Roehl of Ansonia, two step-sons, George (Barbara) Ratkovich of Rosindale, MA and Peter A. Ratkovich of Portland, OR, three sisters, Christine Johnson of North Haven, Mary (Robert) Stimpson of South Carolina, and Dorothy Kopasz of Stratford, and a step-grandson, August Ratkovich. He was predeceased by three sisters, Delia Zampano, Eileen Creaser, and Elizabeth Frederick. Funeral services for Bill are private, and have been entrusted to the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. www.washingtonmemorialfh.com
