Wilfredo Torres, Jr., 51 of New Haven died suddenly at Yale-New Haven Hospital on Sunday, January 24, 2021. He was the beloved husband of Madeline Matos. Wilfredo was born in New Haven on April 22, 1969, a son of Wilfredo Torres, Sr. of New Haven and the late Catalina Torres, and was a lifelong city resident. He was a self-employed painting contractor. Wilfredo is also survived by his son, Christian Torres, his step-mother Iris Centeño, one sister, Melissa Torres, his mother-in-law Igdalia Martinez, all of New Haven, a step-sister Maritza (Damon) Perry of East Haven, two sisters-in-law, Noemi (Edison Vidro) Matos and Nitza Matos, two brothers-in-law, Juan B. Matos and Juan M. (Joann Greatsinger) three nieces, Rosa Roman, Dalia Matos and Janitza Velázquez, three nephews, José (Julie Méndez) Velázquez, Edison (Maritza Cortez) Vidro, Jr., and their daughter Aliah Marie Berrios, and Mateo Matos, also all of New Haven. He was predeceased by his father-in-law Juan B. Matos, and his step-brother, Luís Rodríguez. Wilfredo's family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, February 4th from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven.
