Wilfredo Santiago, 76 of New Haven died peacefully on Sunday, November 29, 2020 at Yale-New Haven Hospital with his loving family by his side. Wilfredo, better known as "Uncle Luís" was born in Arecibo, Puerto Rico on January 24, 1944, a son of Paulina de Jesus of New Haven and the late Claudio Santiago, and had resided in New Haven for more than sixty years. He was a superintendent at C.A. White, Inc. Apartments of New Haven for the past twenty four years. In addition to his mother, Wilfredo is survived by two daughters, Elva Iris (John) Cruz of Montero, Bolivia and Marry Sol Santiago of Barceloneta, Puerto Rico, one son, Wilfredo (Nilda) Santiago of Harvey, LA, one sister, Adelaida (David Moreno) Santiago of San Juan, Puerto Rico, two brothers, Richard Santiago of New Haven and Maximo (Ana) Santiago of Arecibo, two grandchildren, Aida Santiago and Janyliz Vázquez, two great grandchildren, Aliha and Jonuel, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by two brothers, José and Evangelista Santiago. Wilfredo's family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, December 3rd from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. A funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Friday, December 4th at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, New Haven. www.washingtonmemorialfh.com
