Walter Bernard Moore, 66, of Durham, CT died peacefully at his home on Saturday, January 18, 2025 with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Karen (Eckels) Moore. Walter was born in New Haven, CT on October 30, 1958, a son of the late John Hamilton and Bernadette (Cusano) Moore. He had resided in North Haven for many years before moving to Durham sixteen years ago, and was a construction superintendent for several area construction companies throughout his more than forty year career. Walter was a 1976 graduate of Branford High School. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved camping, fishing and the beach, especially Hammonasset Beach, and was a faithful friend of Bill W. Walter's family is grateful to the Smilow Medical Team, especially Dr. Jill Lacy and the support of Connecticut Hospice Home Care for all of the dedicated and loving care bestowed upon him over the past seven years.
In addition to his wife Karen, Walter is survived by three daughters, Jessica (Paul) Wolfer and Sara Moore of Meriden, and Samantha (Greg) Gambardella of North Haven, two step-daughters, Alecia (Branden) Bohan of Burlington, CT and Erika (Bob) Brady of Southington, two sisters, Pamel Moore of Athens, GA and Lynn Pennington of Eugene, OR, a brother, Raymond (Donna) Moore of East Haven, seven grandchildren, Emelie, Lauren and Rosalie Brady and Cody, Jaxon, Grace and Liberty Bohan, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his brother John "Buster" Moore.
Walter's family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, January 24th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. A funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Saturday, January 25th at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Centerville Cemetery, Hamden.
