Virginia Aydee Cortés Figueroa

Virginia Aydee Cortés Figueroa, 71, of New Haven died peacefully on Sunday, December 18, 2022 at Yale-New Haven Hospital, St. Raphael Campus with her loving family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Angel Manuel Viruet. Virginia was born in Utuado, Puerto Rico on June 23, 1951, a daughter of the late Herbasio Figueroa and the late Virginia Cortés, and had resided in Newark, NJ for twenty five years before moving to New Haven in 1988. Virginia is survived by three daughters, Mildred Viruet, Ibanez (José Gotay) Viruet and Lorena (Ronald Carvalho) Viruet and two sons, Robin (Maribel Martínez) Viruet and Averangel Viruet, all of New Haven, one brother, Hernan Cortés of PA, six grandchildren, Robin Marie Ramos, Virginia Aydee Ramos, Carlos Rivera, Antonio Martínez, Ibanez Lorena Viruet and Angel Viruet, four great-grandchildren, Jizzelle, Jinnele and Avalisse Rivera and Jaydison Carvalho, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by two sisters, Ines and Ula Cortés, and two brothers, Antonio and Gelo Cortés. Virginia's family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, December 27th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. A funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 28th at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, New Haven. www.washingtonmemorialfh.com
