Veronica Frione Obituary

Veronica “Ronnie” Sikorski Frione, 91, of North Haven passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, December 8, 2021. She was the beloved wife of the late Eugene “Gene” Frione. Veronica was born in New Haven on June 19, 1930, and was predeceased by her parents Antoni and Julia Sikorski.  Veronica graduated from Commercial High School in 1948 and then worked at the New Haven Savings Bank. The little detail of work history is important because as she was getting on the bus for work, she met her devoted husband, Gene. She is survived by daughters Rhonda Manware (Albert) of Branford and Elizabeth Strilbyckij (Hans) of North Haven; granddaughters Kelly Marshall (Gerry Celano) of Newbury, MA and Erica Strilbyckij of Milford; and great-granddaughter Elle Celano of Newbury, MA. Veronica’s favorite activities were dinners and playing cards at her family’s homes. She always loved playing board games (from Candy Land to Scrabble) with her granddaughters, and she played to win! She loved game shows including Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. Years later she was still playing board games with her great-granddaughter Elle. Veronica enjoyed playing the piano and listening to classical music. She loved going to Foxwoods Casino with her husband Gene where she would have the occasional lucky winning streak, which she made known to all. Although Veronica did not travel often, when she took a trip she fully enjoyed the experience. She and Gene loved to visit their granddaughter Kelly at college in Northampton, MA, and later at her home in Boston, MA. She became an expert sightseer. Veronica enjoyed her granddaughter Erica’s travels from home in North Haven, and was especially delighted to receive treasured Christmas gifts from Scotland. Veronica’s family would like to thank her caregivers, Sylwia, Beata, and Julia, who provided exceptional care, compassion, and commitment. They also would like to thank Guilford VNA and Hospice, and Broadway Medical Group (especially Julie and Vanessa) who provided the utmost attention, and regard for Veronica’s well-being. Funeral services are private. In lieu of flowers, please consider acts of kindness, especially for elderly people, and people with disabilities in Veronica’s memory. The Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven has been entrusted with arrangements. www.washingtonmemorialfh.com
