Ubalda Berrios, 79, of New Haven died peacefully at her home on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 with her loving family by her side. She was the beloved wife of Juan Alberto Espinal. Ubalda was born in Guayama, Puerto Rico on May 18, 1942, a daughter of the late Santos Berrios and the late Jaunita Bernier, and had lived in New Haven since 1985. She was seamstress in Puerto Rico, and in New Haven as well, having worked for the former Playtex Bra Company of New Haven and the former Straus-Adler Co. of New Haven. She later worked for Echlin Corp., Branford for many years, retiring in 2001. In addition to her husband, Ubalda is also survived by two daughters, Maritza (Teddy Quiñones) Espinal of New Haven and Maria (Daniel Rosario) Espinal of Orlando, FL, two sons, Carlos Alberto Espinal of East Haven and José Alberto Espinal of New Haven, three sisters, Olga Vicente of Guayama and Carmen Vidro and Lydia Berrios of New Haven, two brothers, Angel Berrios of New Haven and Juan Berrios of Guayama, eight grandchildren, Carlos Alberto Espinal, Jr., Kelvin Espinal, Daniel Rosario, Jr., Jordan Rosario, Aiden Rosario, Airam Rosario, Teddy Quiñones, Jr.. and Nayarah Quiñones. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by a sister, Margarita Berrios, and a brother, Ernesto Berrios. Ubalda's family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, February 1st from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. Her funeral procession will leave from the funeral home on Wednesday, February 2nd at 10:30 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. in St. Francis of Assisi Church (Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish), 397 Ferry St., New Haven.
