Thomas Francis “Sammy” Kosky, 71, of Hamden, CT died peacefully on Sunday, July 23, 2023 at Montowese Health & Rehabilitation Center, North Haven. Sammy was born in New Haven, CT on August 31, 1951, a son of the late Thomas F. and Marion Short Kosky and was a lifelong Hamden resident. He was a driver for #1 Fish of Hamden for fifteen years, retiring in 2017. He was an avid sports fan and baseball card collector. Sammy loved the horses, especially the trotters, and was a regular at Sports Haven. He loved to read, and was known to read 2-3 newspapers a day. Sammy is survived by his sister Deborah L. (Edward McArdle) Kelly and brother David J. Kosky of Hamden, a niece, Candice Kelly of Meriden and a nephew, Gerald P. Kelly of Miami, FL. He is also survived by his lifelong best friend Robert “Bobby” McNeil and his wife Tura of Wallingford, and his close friend and former co-worker Antonio Cardenas. He was predeceased by his sister Sharon E. Little and nephew Frank “Buddy” Little. Sammy’s family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, August 2nd from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. His funeral procession will leave from the funeral home Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church (St. Paul VI Parish), 2819 Whitney Ave., Hamden. A committal service will follow at the mausoleum at All Saints Cemetery, North Haven. washingtonmemorialfh.com
