Theresa Mary (Hanc) Dziurzynski

Theresa “Terry” Mary Hanc Dziurzynski, 77, of Hamden, formerly of New Haven passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 6, 2022. Born in Suwalki, Poland, Terry touched many lives in the United States and Poland. Her parents, Edward Hanc and Helena Podsiadlowicz predeceased Terry. She is survived by her brother, Richard Hanc, and extended family members in Poland and dear close friends who became her family in the United States, the Gavigan/Weavers (Grace, Rich, Gabrielle, Faith & Lorelei), and the Dziurzynski family including Krysztof, his son Christopher, wife Rachel and children Zosia and Aleksander, and his son Arthur, wife Ahvanhdteenah and children Ciana, Norma, and Rozalia, and numerous aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends in Poland and in the United States. Terry was a graduate of Quinnipiac College, and her talents were many. Terry truly was a unique, generous, kind person and savvy entrepreneur. She was ahead of her time in many ways. She was a retired social worker with the State of Connecticut. She rehabbed and flipped many homes in New Haven County before it was popular, owned and operated apartment houses, and was a devoted niece, aunt, cousin, friend, Godmother and babysitter to many lucky people. Her generosity knew no bounds. She enjoyed all tag sales, searching for treasures for the people she cared about, and any family gatherings for birthdays, Communions, graduations, and all holidays. She enjoyed traveling all over Europe and visited family and friends abroad when she was able. She cared for other people her entire life and loved all animals, especially cats. Friends and family sincerely thank all staff at Connecticut Hospice, Branford for the wonderful help and loving care Terry received there, and to the staff at St. Raphael’s Hospital, Verdi East 5th floor, who provided stellar care to Terry while there. She was surrounded by loving, caring people which means the most to family and friends.  Friends may pay their respects on Thursday, August 11th from 10:15 AM to 12:15 PM at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. Her funeral procession will leave from the funeral home at 12:30 PM for a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated at 1:00 PM in St. Stanislaus Church, 9 Eld St., New Haven.
