Sonia Díaz Santiago

Sonia Díaz Santiago, 83 of New Haven, CT died peacefully at her home on Friday, September 20, 2024. She was the beloved wife of the late Wilfredo Santiago. Sonia was born in Coamo, Puerto Rico on February 21, 1941, a daughter of the late Juan Díaz and the late Carmen Maria Martínez. She resided in Coamo for most of her life, lived in Brooklyn, NY for five years and moved to New Haven twenty eight years ago. Sonia is survived by one daughter, Carmen Santiago of Hamden, CT, two sons, Wilfredo (Nilda González) Santiago of Coamo and Nestor Santiago of Hamden, two sisters, Miriam Díaz Colón of Patillas, PR and Elizabeth Díaz Martínez of Barranquitas, PR, her special cousin, Carmen Sánchez of Santa Isabel, PR, twenty grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren, and many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by two sisters, Nellie and Judith Díaz Martínez and four brothers, Hector Díaz Martínez, Edwin and Samuel Sánchez and Carlos Roy.

Sonia's family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, September 23rd from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. Funeral services and burial will take place in Coamo, Puerto Rico at a later date. washingtonmemorialfh.com
