Sofia (Albino) Díaz

Sofia Albino Díaz, 82, of New Haven, CT died peacefully on Thursday, October 26, 2023 at Yale-New Haven Hospital, St. Raphael Campus with her loving family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late William Manuel Díaz. Sofia was born in Gauyanilla, Puerto Rico on September 30, 1941, a daughter of the late Pablo Albino and the late Antonia Velásquez, and had resided in New Haven for the past fifty years. She is survived by five daughters, Ileana Díaz and Virgin (Vladimir Rosado) Díaz of West Haven, Milagros Díaz, Jacqueline Díaz and Cristina (Efrain Nieves) Díaz of New Haven, seven sons, Carlos Manuel Díaz, Pedro Juan (Elva) Díaz, Roberto (Luz) Díaz, José Antonio Díaz, Simon (Awilda) Díaz, Gustavo Díaz and William Díaz, all of New Haven, one brother, Juan Gabriel Albino of Guayanilla, forty one grandchildren, and many, many loving great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and friends. She was predeceased by two sisters, Margarita and Elsamaria Albino and one brother, Machy Albino. Sofia's family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, October 30th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. A funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Tuesday, October 31st at 11:00 a.m., the Rev. Hector Rengal officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, New Haven.
