Seongtae Cho Obituary

Seongtae Cho, 54, of West Hartford, CT died tragically along with two of his companions on Sunday, February 19, 2023 from injuries sustained in an avalanche while climbing Colchuck Peak in the Enchantments, in Chelan County, Leavenworth, WA. He was the beloved husband of twenty eight years to Meijong Kim Cho. Seongtae was born in Chung Cheong do, South Korea on February 10, 1969, a son of the late Dukyeon and Soonhyun Nam Cho, and had resided in West Hartford for the past twenty five years. He was a professional mountain climber since the age of twenty, and also along with his wife, owned and operated ILYS Clothing of Providence, RI. for the past five years. Seongtae loved his family, children and the mountains. In addition to his wife Meijong, he is survived by a daughter, Cecilia Cho, and two sons, Charles and Christopher Cho of West Hartford, two sisters, Kyunghee Cho of Los Angeles, CA and Bang Ah Cho of South Korea, one brother, Sunggab Cho and his wife Sunmee Jeon of South Korea, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Seongtae's family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, March 15th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart of Jesus Korean Catholic Church, 56 Hartford Ave., Wethersfield, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the church on Wednesday, March 16th at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be private.
