Sandra Enid Rivera Desousa, 56, of West Haven died suddenly at her home on Thursday, January 20, 2022. She was the beloved wife of Roney Desouza. Sandra was born in Vega Baja, Puerto Rico on September 25, 1965, a daughter of Luz Bermúdez of Hamden, and the late Luís Rivera. She had resided in New Haven for much of her life, then lived in Framingham, Massachusetts for several years before moving to West Haven two years ago. Sandra was a medical secretary at Beth Israel Hospital in Brookline, MA for eighteen years. In addition to her husband, she is also survived by two daughters, Danisha Rivera and Sandilees Desousa of West Haven, four sons, Darryl Byrd and Edwin Hernández of New Haven, Roney (Anna) Desousa, Jr. of Cambridge, MA, Axle Xiomara Desousa of West Haven, two sisters, Angela Marrero of East Haven and Evangelina Rivera of New Haven, one grandson, Skyler Byrd, and many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her daughter Angeliz Desousa and her brother Edwin Hernández. Sandra's family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, January 24th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven.
