Rolando “Rolo” Velázquez, 43 was born on December 28, 1976 at Yale-New Haven Hospital, New Haven, CT. The middle child and 1st son of Mr. Virginio and Mrs. Ana Migdalia Velázquez of East Haven, CT. He is also survived by his sister Jeanetsey, wife of George Prates of Wallingford, brother Kenneth husband of Merari Velázquez and their children Rolando, Lylah and Kenneth of Meriden, CT. A graduate of Eli Whitney Vocational High School of Hamden, he joined the Army Reserves in 1994, until his accident on July 28, 1998, which left him a quadriplegic. A man of Christian faith who served God at the Door of Salvation Christian Church of New Haven, CT. He always had a smile on his face, and a song to share with all. Rolo was called home on February 7, 2020.
Rolo’s family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, February 13th from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m.at the Door of Salvation Christian Church (Iglesia Cristiana, Puerta de Salvación), 3 Arch St., New Haven. A funeral service will take place at the church on Friday, February 14th at 10:00 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, New Haven.
