Robert Tomczyk Obituary

Robert Joseph Tomczyk, 68 of South Daytona, FL, formerly of North Haven, CT died peacefully on Thursday, December 12, 2019 at Halifax Hospice, Port Orange Florida. He was the beloved husband of forty two years to Frances Pesta Tomczyk. Bob was born in New Haven, CT on October  8, 1951, a son of the late Theodore and Edith Sanford Tomczyk, and had resided in North Haven for thirty nine years before moving to South Daytona five years ago. Bob worked as a glazier at Anderson Glass of West Haven, CT for seventeen years until retiring in 2012. He had started his career as a glazier at Hamden Glass and later Dixwell Glass before ending his career with Anderson Glass. He was a 1970 graduate of North Haven High School, a former Weblo leader and Pack leader of Troop 810 of North Haven, and a longtime parishioner of St. Barnabas Church, North Haven. Bob enjoyed bowling, and was a diehard Boston Red Sox and NY Giants fan. In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by a son, David M. Hacku of South Daytona, a sister, Diane Tomczyk of North Haven, a brother, Donald and his wife Linda Tomczyk of Wallingford, CT, a niece, Jennifer (Michael) Poppolizio, and their son Anthony Poppolizio of North Haven, his grandniece and goddaughter Meagan (Aaron) Cippolino of the Bronx, NY, and grandnephew, John Helff of Hamden, CT. He was predeceased by his sister Donna Tomczyk Riggott. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Bob on Saturday, July 11th  at 10:00 a.m. in St. Elizabeth of the Trinity Parish, St. Barnabas Church, 44 Washington Ave., North Haven. Social distancing and face coverings are required. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery, 700 Middletown Ave., North Haven. The Tomczyk family is sensitive to covid-19 concerns, and rspects the decision of those who chose not to attend.
