Rev. Miguel Armando Hernández

El Reverendo Armando Hernández, de 79 años, de East Haven, CT, anteriormente de New Haven, CT, falleció pacificamente en su hogar, con su amorosa familia a su lado, lunes, 12 de enero de 2026. Fue el amado esposo de Milagros Naranjo Hernández.

El Reverendo Hernández nació el 29 de noviembre de 1946 en el barrio Ingenio en Toa Baja, Puerto Rico, hijo del fallecido Angel Hernández y de fallecida María Luisa Colón. Desde temprana edad, su vida estuvo marcada por un llamado divino que se manifestó a los 15 años, cuando entregó su vida al Señor en la Iglesia Mission Board, donde dio sus primeros pasos en ministerio sirviendo con fidelidad y humilidad.

A lo largo de los años, se preparó teológicamente en el Instituto de las Asambleas de Dios y sirvió en iglesias en Puerto Rico, Nueva York, y Connecticut. En 1969 se graduó en Teologia Bíblica y recibió la confirmación de su llamado pastoral. En 1971 inició formalmente su ministerio en New Haven, Connecticut. Junto a su esposa María Lina Hernández, que en paz descanse, fue fundador de la Iglesia Segunda Estrella de Jacob. Es ahí donde comenzó a cumplirse la visión que Dios Había puesto en su corazón.

El Reverendo Armando Hernández fue un hombre de visión incansable. Fundó 41 iglesias localmente y 82 iglesias en distintos países, formo aproximadamente 45 ministros, estableció la emisora Radio Amor, y formó generaciones de lideres a través del Instituto Biblico, donde sirvió como director y maestro. Fue presbítero da las Asambleas de Dios por 16 años, fundador de la Asociación de Ministros de New Haven, y ocupó diversos cargos a nivel seccional y distrial. En el año 2000 recibió un Doctorado en Teología.

Fundó la Iglesia Emanuel Camino de Restauración, y en sus últimos años sirvió como de la Asociación Emanuel en los Estados Unidos y fundador del Instituto Biblico Emanuel. El Rev. Armando Hernández deja un legado de fe, servicio y visión. Su vida fue una entrega constante a la obra de Dios y su mayor deseo fue ser recordado como un hombre visionario que obedeció fielmente el llamado del Señor.

Además de su querida esposa Milagros, el Reverendo Hernández deja en vida a dos hijas, Marta Hernández y Raquel (Norberto) Báez de New Haven, cuatro hijos, Armando (Natividad) Hernández de Wallingford, Rev. Orlando Hernández y Rev. Abraham (Raquel) Hernández de New Haven, y Rev. Emilio (Christine) Hernández de Oakland, CA, dos hijastras, Evangely (Ramón R. Rivera) Nieves y Waleska (David Padilla) Nieves de New Haven, dos hermanas, Delia Luz Falcón de Comerío, PR y María Hernández de Dorado, PR, dos hermanos, José Juan Hernández y Ernesto Hernández de Comerío, diecisiete nietos, Erica, Emily, Fransheska, Luís, Jonathan, Keila, Thalanie, Adrian, Ja'myi, Lina y Ashley Negrón, Shevangely, Daleishka y David Padilla, Llegnave y Juan Santiago y Julio Nieves, cinco bisnietos y muchos sobrinas y sobrinos, tataranietos, primos y una extensa familia de feligreses y amigos que lo querían profundamente.

La familia del Reverendo Armando Hernández recibirá a familiares y amigos para honrar y celebrar la vida de nuestro fundador y pastor el miércoles 14 de enero y el jueves 15 de enero de 6:00 a 9:00 p.m. en Iglesia Cristiana Estrella Resplandeciente de Jacob, 185 Chapel St., New Haven. El entierro se llevará a cabo en Cataño, Puerto Rico, en una fecha posterior. Reverend Armando Hernández, 79, of East Haven, CT, formerly of New Haven, CT died peacefully at his home with his loving family by his side on Monday, January 12, 2026. He was the beloved husband of Milagros Naranjo Hernández.

Reverend Hernández was born on November 29, 1946, in the Ingenio neighborhood of Toa Baja, Puerto Rico, a son of the late Angel Hernández and the late María Luisa Colón. From an early age, his life was marked by a divine calling, which became evident at the age of 15 when he dedicated his life to the Lord at Mission Board Church, where he took his first steps in ministry, serving with faithfulness and humility.

Over the years, he pursued theological training at the Assemblies of God Institute and served in churches in Puerto Rico, New York, and Connecticut. In 1969, he graduated in Biblical Theology and received confirmation of his pastoral calling. In 1971, he formally began his ministry in New Haven, Connecticut. Together with his wife, Maria Lina Hernández, may she rest in peace, he founded the Second Star of Jacob Church. It was there that the vision God had placed in his heart began to be fulfilled.

Reverend Armando Hernández was a man of tireless vision. He founded 41 churches locally and 82 churches in other countries, trained approximately 45 ministers, established the radio station Radio Amor, and shaped generations of leaders through the Biblical Institute, where he served as director and teacher. He served as an elder of the Assemblies of God Ministries for 16 years, founded the Association of Ministers of New Haven, and held various sectional and district-level positions. In 2000, he received a Doctorate in Theology.

He also founded the Emanuel Camino de Restauración Church, and in his later years, he served as bishop of the Emanuel Association in the United States, and as founder of the Emanuel Biblical Institute.

Reverend Armando Hernández leaves a legacy of faith, service, and vision. His life was a continual dedication to God's work, and his greatest desire was to be remembered as a visionary man who faithfully obeyed the Lord's calling.

In addition to his beloved wife Milagros, Reverend Hernández is survived by two daughters, Marta Hernández and Raquel (Norberto) Báez of New Haven, four sons, Armando (Natividad) Hernández of Wallingford, Rev. Orlando Hernández and Rev. Abraham (Raquel) Hernández of New Haven, and Rev. Emilio (Christine) Hernández of Oakland, CA, two step-daughters, Evangley (Ramón R. Rivera) Nieves and Waleska (David Padilla) Nieves of New Haven, two brothers, José Juan Hernández and Ernesto Hernández of Comerío, PR, seventeen grandchildren, Erica, Emily, Luís, Jonathan, Keila, Thalanie, Adrian, Ja'myi, Lina and Ashley Negrón, Shevangely Daleishka and David Padilla, Llegnave and Juan Santiago and Julio Nieves, five great-grandchildren, and many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and a vast family of parishioners and friends who deeply loved him.

Reverend Armando Hernández's family will receive relatives and friends to honor and celebrate the life of our founder and pastor Wednesday, January 14th and Thursday, January 15th at Radiant Star of Jacob Christian Church, 185 Chapel St., New Haven.
