Raymond R. "Moose" Vanacore, 89, of Hamden, loving husband of Muriel Grimaldi Vanacore, died peacefully, Saturday, January 8th, 2022 at Yale New Haven Hospital.
Raymond was born in New Haven, August 15, 1932, a son of the late Augustino Vanacore and Helen Stanio Vanacore and had been a Hamden resident for many years. He had been employed as an electrical designer until his retirement. Moose loved his special time with his family, children and grandchildren. Spending time with them brought him great joy. He enjoyed being outdoors, tending to his garden and flowers in the summertime. His sense of humor and wit always kept his family laughing and he always filled a room with his big personality. His family and friends will all miss him.
In addition to his wife Muriel, he is survived by his two sons, Daniel (Beverly) Vanacore of Georgia and Robert (Lia) Vanacore of Madison; 6 grandchildren Matthew, Michael, Vanessa, and Raymond Vanacore, Muriel and Alexander Bell; his sister Ethel DeMusis of Florida; many nieces; and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter Marijane Bell; 4 brothers George, Fred, John and Leo Vanacore; and 3 sisters, Mary Mascola, Elizabeth Kaluski, Virginia VanWolvelaerd.
Raymond's family will receive relatives and friends at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven, on Friday, January 14th, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. His funeral procession will leave from the funeral home on Saturday, January 15th at 12:15 p.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated at 1 p.m. in Christ the Bread of Life Parish, Blessed Sacrament Church, 321 Circular Ave., Hamden.
