Quiterio Montalvo, 90, of East Haven, CT, formerly of New Haven, CT died peacefully on Monday, March 3rd, 2025 at Connecticut Hospice with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of sixty five years to Carol (DeCrescenzo) Montalvo. Quiterio was born in Sabana Grande, Puerto Rico on February 20, 1935, a son of the late Bernardo Montalvo and the late Gregoria Santiago and had resided in New Haven for most of his life before moving to East Haven nineteen years ago.
He was a machinist at Connecticut Container of North Haven for forty two years retiring in 1997, and was the former commissioner of and a former player of the Puerto Rican-American Softball League of New Haven for many years. Quiterio was also a member of the Coamo Social Club and the former Puerto Rican All Stars Club of New Haven which he founded.
In addition to his wife Carol, Quiterio is survived by a daughter, Donna M. (John) Stepien of Clinton, two sons, Dominic P. (Lisa) Montalvo of Meriden and Bernard L. (Joan) Montalvo of East Haven, seven grandchildren, Dominic (Annunziata) Montalvo, Danielle Montalvo, Natalie (Sean) McCarn, Katheleen and Alex Montalvo, Bernard (Tabatha) Montalvo, Jr. and Matthew Stepien, eleven great-grandchildren, and many loving nieces, nephews cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his grandson Walter Montalvo, his sister Julia Vega and brother Rosendo Montalvo.
Quiterio's family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, March 7th from 8:15 to 10:15 a.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. His funeral cortege will depart the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. in St. Vincent de Paul Church (St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish), 80 Taylor Ave., East Haven.
