Philip Anthony “Chip” Ciaburri, born 12/11/1947 passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Thursday, June 15, 2023. He was the loving husband of Betty Ciaburri for 49 years, proud father of Anthony (Rebecca) Ciaburri of North Haven and Christie (Angelo) Cambio of East Greenwich, RI, devoted poppy to his 4 grandchildren Carlie and Cece Cambio and Lucas and Ella Ciaburri. He was the son of the late Anthony and Bridget Ciaburri
Phillip graduated from Hamden High School in 1965, later attending New Haven College before enlisting in the US Army Reserves with the 340th General Hospital Unit for 6 years. He started his professional career with the S&S Company, completing his apprenticeship as meat processor, working his way to Meat Department Manager. After 40 years of dedicated employment to S&S, he retired in 2013.
Philip and Betty made their home in North Branford for 36 years where they raised their 2 children. After both retired, they moved to North Haven.
Philip, better known as “Chip” to his family and friends was an avid New York Yankees and Giants fan. He also enjoyed following UCONN Women’s Basketball. He was happiest when spending quiet times with his family, Sunday dinners, playing daily numbers and cheering on his grandchildren in whatever they were participating in.
Although he did not have any siblings of his own, he inherited some from Betty’s family. He leaves behind his sisters Gloria Podsiadlo and Angela Nacca, brothers Richard Podsiadlo and Frank Nacca, as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He also leaves behind his dear childhood buddies Joe Rubino, Joe Gaetano, Bobby Affie and Larry Marchitto. Chip’s family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, June 23rd from 9:15 to 11:15 a.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. His funeral cortege will depart the funeral home at 11:30 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. in St. Therese Church (St. Elizabeth of the Trinity Parish), 555 Middletown Ave., North Haven.
