Orlando Aponte Garcia, 71, of New Haven, CT died peacefully at his daughter Marilynn's home on Friday, March 21, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. Orlando was born in Utuado, Puerto Rico on October 7, 1953, a son of the late Alejandro Aponte and the late Ana Garcia, and had resided in New Haven for nearly his entire life. He was a self-employed music salesperson and owned and operated the former Distribuidora Aponte, LLC for more than forty years.
Orlando is survived by two daughters, Marilynn (Henry) Aponte of New Haven and Brenda (Edwin) Deida, six sons, Jorge Aponte of Hartford, Isaac (Jessica) Aponte of West Haven, Joel Aponte of Glastonbury, Xavier Aponte of New Haven, Elias (Vicki) Estrada and Ricky Ramos, two sisters, Margaret (Antonio) Vélez of Florida and Edith (José) Méndez of Michigan, twenty one grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his step-son Angel Izquierdo.
Orlando's family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, March 29th from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. A funeral service will take place at the funeral home during visitation time. Burial will be private. washingtonmemorialfh.com
