Norberto Rivera

Norberto Rivera, 80, of New Haven, CT died peacefully at his home on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 with his loving family by his side. Norberto was born in Barranquitas, Puerto Rico on June 6, 1942, a son of the late Edermiro Rivera and the late Julia Mateo, and had resided in Reading, Pennsylvania for twenty five years before moving to New Haven thirty years ago. While in Puerto Rico he was a truck driver for Hato Rey Transport Co. Norberto is survived by four daughters, Nitza Rivera of Kearny, NJ, Awilda Rivera and Cynthia Rivera of New Haven and Xiomara Rivera of Reading, one son, Norberto Rivera, Jr. of Jacksonville, FL, three sisters, Angelina Rivera and Luisa (Manuel) Rivera of Barranquitas and Angela Rivera of Orocovis, Puerto Rico, seven brothers, Victor (Edith) Rivera, Damaso (Carmen) Rivera, Mariano (Miriam) Rivera, Geraldo (Maria) Rivera and Antonio Rivera of Orocovis, and Carmelo and Eddie Rivera of Philadelphia, PA, nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his daughter Sonia Rivera. Norberto's family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, May 5th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven.
