Nicola Pagniello

Nicola Pagniello, 85, of East Hampton, CT, formerly of Hamden, CT died peacefully at Hartford Hospital on Saturday, May 27, 2023 with his loving family by his side. Nicola was born in Casabore, Province of Avellino, Italy on November 19, 1937, a son of the late Rocco and Maria Grazia Capozzi Pagniello. He came to the U.S. in 1967 and resided in Hamden for twenty seven years before moving to East Hampton in 1994. While in Italy, Nicola was a stone mason for fifteen years. He later worked for Blue Ribbon Meat Co. of Hamden for twenty years, and retired from the former Leon’s Bakery, North Haven in 2003. Nicola is survived by his sister Luisa Simoni and her husband Luigi Simoni of East Hampton, two brothers, Leonardo Pagniello and his wife Dina Viglione in Pagnello of Lausanne, Switzerland and Michele Arcangelo Pagniello of Terni, Italy, and seven nieces and nephews, Maria Grazia Albanis, Rocco Pagniello and Alessandro  Pagniello, all of Laussane, Barbara Pagniello and Lorenzo Pagniello of Terni and Emilio Simoni and his wife Simona Simoni and Chiara Simoni of East Hampton. He was predeceased by a sister, Teresa Pagniello. Nicola’s family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, May 31st from 9:15 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. His funeral cortege will depart the funeral home at 11:30 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. in St. Therese Church (St. Elizabeth of the Trinity Parish), 555 Middletown Ave., North Haven.
