Nicholas Berretta Obituary

Nicholas Berretta, 93, of North Haven, CT died peacefully on Sunday, June 1, 2025 at Chatham Place at Mary Wade, New Haven with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of the late Anna Marie (Cimino) Berretta. Nick was born in New York City on March 21, 1932, a son of the late Girolamo and Marianna (Grizzaffi) Berretta, and had resided in North Haven since 1960. He owned and operated Creative Hair Styling of New Haven for fifty years, retiring in 2003. Nick and Anna Marie would spend winters in Inglewood, FL for forty years. He loved gardening, landscaping, crabbing, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. 

He is survived by his two daughters, Rosina (Louis) Donarumo of Cheshire and Lisa (Mark) Franco of Wallingford, two sisters, Laura Stetinger of Sparkers, NY and Jennie Gambardella of Branford, two brothers, Jerry Berretta of West Haven and Frank Berretta of California, six grandchildren, Louie, Nicholas, and Michael Donarumo, and Mark, Paul (Rachel) and Maria Franco, and one great-grandson, Matteo Franco. He was predeceased by four brothers, Joseph, Robert, Vincent and Victor Berretta.

Nick's family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, June 5th from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven, CT. HIs funeral cortege will depart the funeral home at 11:45 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. in St. Barnabas Church (St. Elizabeth of the Trinity Parish), 44 Washington Ave., North Haven. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum in All Saints Cemetery, North Haven.
