Nelson Vidro Antongiorgi

Nelson Vidro Antongiorgi, 72, of New Haven, CT died peacefully on Monday, August 5, 2024 with his loving family by his side. Nelson was born in Sabana Grande, Puerto Rico on September 4, 1951, a son of the late Santos Vidro Pérez and the late Maria del Carmen Antongiorgi. He came to New Haven as a teen where he lived for many years before moving to New Jersey, Florida, and eventually back to Sabana Grande. He worked in the manufacturing industry in New Haven, and constructed homes while living in Sabana Grande. Nelson was always very hands on and enjoyed fixing cars. He loved fishing, riding his horse, and raising animals at his home in Sabana Grande.

In 2017 he returned to New Haven where he spent his remaining years living with his sister "hermana de crianza" Ilsa Padilla. He is survived by his four children, Kathleen Vidro of West Haven, Nelson Vidro, Jr. of New Haven, Michael (Jessica) Vidro of Florida, and Michelle (Emmanuel) Benítez of Florida, eight grandchildren, and a host of brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, including his "hermanas/os  de crianzas" Ilsa and Lolo Padilla and Nira Román of New Haven.

Nelson was a man of simple pleasures and words. Later in life, he was happy just sitting on his front porch with a cup of coffee and a cigarette. He will be missed. 

Nelson's family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, August 14th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. A funeral service will take place at the funeral home at 7:00 p.m. Burial will be private. washingtonmemorialfh.com
