Monserrat Gabriela Cardeña de la Cruz, 34 of Guilford and New York City died suddenly on July 29, 2021 in New York City. Monserrat was born in Tlaxcala City, Mexico in 1987, a daughter of Martha de la Cruz of Guilford and the late Manuel Alberto Cardeña Luna. She came to the U.S. twenty years ago; lived in New York City for five years, and Guilford for fifteen years. Monserrat is also survived by a daughter, Ashley Cardeña of Guilford, two sisters, Martha Cardeña Carpinteyro and her husband José Luís Carpinteyro of Guilford and Sandra Cardeña and her husband José German Pérez of Meriden, one brother, Cristían Cardeña of East Haven, and many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Monserrat's family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, August 19th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven.
