Mirta Justiniano, age 77, of New Haven, CT, peacefully entered the presence of her Lord on Sunday, June 7, 2026. Born in Lajas, Puerto Rico, on September 8, 1948, a daughter of the late Roberto Ortíz and the late Carmen Medina, Mirta was a woman of deep Christian faith who filled her life with love, prayer, and devotion to God.
She is now reunited in heaven with her beloved late husband, William Justiniano. Mirta’s greatest joy was her family; she was a devoted mother to her daughters, and a deeply adored grandmother and great-grandmother. Her legacy of faith and warmth will live on through them forever. She is survived by her daughters, Birna Bermudez of New Haven, Betzaida Ramos of East Haven and Wilmary Carrillo of Hamden, as well her eight cherished grandchildren and nine cherished great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her step-father who raised her Lupion Silva.
A celebration of Mirta's life and faith will be held on Thursday, June 11th from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Iglesia Cristiana Estrella Resplandeciente de Jacob located at 185 Chapel St. New Haven. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, 769 Ella T. Grasso Blvd., New Haven. The Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven has been entrusted with arrangements. washingtonmemorialfh.com
