Miguel “Mike” Angel Rivera, 62, of New Haven, CT died suddenly on Friday, July 19, 2024. Mike was born in Utuado, Puerto Rico on December 25, 1961, a son of Severiano Rivera and Gloria Albarrán of Utuado, and was a lifelong New Haven resident. He was a machinist at Polyone Corporation of Ansonia for the past seven years. Mike loved to fish, drive his scooter, had a great sense of humor, and had a unique perspective to life. He was a gifted musician and played the trumpet and bongos. He performed with various salsa bands in the 1980’s. Mike was truly the life of the party and a kind sole. He is survived by a son, Nigel Bonner of West Haven, two sisters, Elizabeth (Luís Torres)Rivera of Tampa, FL and Migdalia (Michael) Nuzzo of Clinton, three brothers, Elvin (Elsa Berrios-Rivera) Rivera of North Branford and David (Judith) Rivera and Luís (Omayra) Rivera of New Haven, his life partner of twenty six years Mildred Vázquez, and four step-children, Raymundo and Jerry Ayala and Jonathan and Amarillis Vázquez of New Haven.
Mike’s family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, July 25th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. A funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Friday, July 26th at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery, North Haven. www.washingtonmemorialfh.com
