Merete Bormanis Obituary

Merete Heimburger Bormanis, 82 of Wallingford, formerly of Hamden died peacefully on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at Laurel Ridge Nursing Center, Ridgefield. She was the beloved wife of the late Nils Bormanis. Merete was born in Riga, Latvia on February 2, 1939, a daughter of the late Nikolaus and Renate Jehnert Heimburger, and had resided in Hamden for thirty years before moving to Wallingford fifteen years ago. Along with her husband Merete owned and operated World of Travel prior to merging with Fugazy/World Tek Travel of New Haven for thirty five years until retiring in 2007. She is survived by two daughters, Karen (David) Cronin of North Haven and Tina Spose of Wallingford, three sisters and a brother, Elisabet, Stina, Hanne and Peter, all of Copenhagen, Denmark, and three grandchildren, Eric, Julia and Peter. She was predeceased by her sister Helene. Funeral services for Merete are private.
