Melvin G. Keim, Sr., 75, of North Haven died peacefully on Thursday, October 6, 2022 at Midstate Medical Center, Meriden with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of fifty four years to Carol Boese Keim. Mel was born in Lebanon, Pennsylvania on May 7, 1947, a son of the late George F. and Irene Blouch Keim, and had resided in North Haven since 1995. He was an automotive machinist professional for many years, and had owned and operated Mel’s Automotive Performance of North Haven for eighteen years until 1996. He had previously worked at several other area automotive machine shops including, Palmer Automotive, Speedway Automotive and Victory Automotive. In addition to his wife, Mel is survived by a daughter, Melissa Barnett of Wallingford, three sons, Melvin (Carole) Keim, Jr. of Hamden, Douglas (Julia) Keim of Urbana, OH and Robert Keim of North Haven, four grandchildren, Anthony, Christopher, James and McKenzie, his sister-in-law Virginia (James) Pope of New Port Richey, FL and his two loving four legged companions, Whiskey and Shotz. He was predeceased by his beloved daughter Candice Lynn Keim. Mel’s family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, October 12th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. A funeral service will take place at the funeral home at 8:00 p.m., the Rev. Michael Carbaugh officiating. Burial will be private. www.washingtonmemorialfh.com
