Mei Xiu Li

Mei Xiu Li, 97, of New Haven, CT, formerly of North Haven, CT died peacefully on Friday, May 23, 2025 at Yale-New Haven Hospital, St. Raphael Campus with her loving family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Qi Li. Mei was born in Taishan, Guangdong Province, China on September 20, 1927, a daughter of the late Jun Yue Wong and Xing Huan Wong. She came to the United States in 1982 and resided in North Haven for twenty six years before moving to New Haven seventeen years ago. Mei worked as an assembler in the manufacturing industry for ten years, retiring in 1994.

She is survived by one daughter, Wan (Xi Chen) Li of Guilford, two sons, Yong Xin (Pei Ou) Li and Yong Yan (Pi) Li of North Haven, one sister, Muk Li of Boston, MA, six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother Xi Wong.

Mei’s family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, May 28th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. A funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Thursday, May 29th at 9:00 a.m. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery, 700 Middletown Ave., North Haven. www.washingtonmemorialfh.com
