May S. Pallotto, A.K.A. “Triffie”, born Trofimena Serafina Paolillo, beloved wife of John F. Pallotto, Sr. of Hamden, CT, passed away peacefully in her sleep at age 86 on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at her home. She was born in Mount Vernon, NY on June 26, 1937, a daughter of the late Angelina and Alfonso Lieto Paolillo. May move to Connecticut, and met the love of her life, and her best friend, married for 68 blissful years. They adored each other, built a beautiful life, and dreamt of having three children which became their reality.
She graduated from East Haven High School in 1955, and was known for her shiny black hair, dancing dark eyes, always with a smile, and what a dancer! She later worked at New Haven Trap Rock Company before leaving to raise her family. First and foremost, May was a dedicated mother and cheerleader to her children encouraging them to follow their dreams; Victoria Pallotto of Branford, John Pallotto, Jr. (Sandra T.) of Cheshire, and Anthony Pallotto (Sandra L.) of Hamden. She especially loved her role as Nana and adored her grandchildren, Gabrielle (finacé Adam), Nikki, Dillon, Julianna, and Miles Pallotto. She is also survived by two siblings, Joseph Paolillo (Camille) and Alphonse Paolillo (the late Patricia), both of East Haven.
May was a proud Italian and embraced her heritage with love for family and food. A gourmet cook and exceptional baker, who loved to watch the Cooking Network and selected new recipes for her scrumptious varied menus. She treasured her family, and hosted Wednesday night dinners which became a family tradition. Her hobbies included adventures and travel to her second home in Vermont, as well as many US and European trips. May learned to love her husband’s passion of auto racing and quickly became known for her eggplant parm sandwiches around the track.
Well loved by many for her kind, gentle heart that she gave selflessly to all. She was a devout Catholic and a parishioner of St. Ann Church in Hamden. Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Monday, December 4, 2023 from 9:15 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. Her funeral cortege will depart the funeral home at 11:30 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church (St. Paul VI Parish), 2819 Whitney Ave., Hamden. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum at All Saints Cemetery, 700 Middletown Ave., North Haven.
