It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Maryjane Torres aged 58, of New Haven, CT, who passed away Saturday, March 29, 2025. She was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, aunt and grandmother to us all. Maryjane was a cherished friend of Franklin Street Community.
Maryjane Torres was born on November 6, 1966 in New Haven, CT to Arturo Hernández and predeceased by her mom Sally Jane Acevedo and sister Katherine Hernández. Maryjane was a healthcare professional who loved working with the elderly. Maryjane graduated from Lee High School in New Haven, and also went to the Data Institute of Business in New Haven for data entry. Although over the years, she became disabled; and from that had picked up many hobbies such as arts and crafts; she loved to paint, and create ordinary things. Maryjane loved to cook, and feed the community. Also, she enjoyed baking deserts because she knew sweets were a way to bring people together.
Mary Jane was a loving daughter, mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed by her brother, spouse, children, grandchildren, and nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. As well as friends, and colleagues who were important in her life.

- Spouse: Ceasar de Jesús & her service pet Meechew the cat.
- Father: Arturo Hernández
- Children: Erica & Erik Torres, José, Rosa, Edgar Morales, Lauren Hidalgo.
- Grandchildren: Ahlana Marie Smith, Kiana Elyse Smith, Leilani Jane Mack, David Carlton Smith, Jeremiah Morales, Jaliyah Morales, Synai Marie Glover.
- Brother: Arturo "Bubba" Hernández, Jr.
- Nieces and Nephews: Chaila Yvette Hernández, Arturo Hernández, III, Chazmin Denise Rivera, and Brandyn and Jayme Hernández
She was preceded in death by her mom Sally Jane Acevedo, sister Katheine Denise Hernández, niece Giselle Hernández and Aunt Margaret Holiday.
A service to celebrate her life will be held on Friday April 4th, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 pm at Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave. North Haven. Burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetary in New Haven.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her memory to Washington Memorial Funeral Home.
We take comfort in knowing that Maryjane's spirit will live on in our hearts. She was deeply loved and will be remembered always and forever.
