Mary DiNicola Cestaro entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at 102 years of age. She was born in New Haven, CT on June 29, 1919, and resided in New Haven and North Haven CT before moving to Brewster MA. Mary was predeceased by her parents Antonio and Rosalia (Vultaggio) DiNicola, brothers Anthony, Frank, Salvatore, Albert, and Joseph. She was also predeceased by the love of her life, Robert, and her youngest daughter Rosalie Verlezza. Mary is survived by her daughter Marilyn Odell of Brewster, MA, her sons in law Colin Odell and Anthony Verlezza, granddaughters Elise Hirth, Margaret Schneider and great grandson Gabriel Schneider. She is also lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews and their families. Mary had many interesting experiences over her lifetime. In her early adult life, she was an accomplished seamstress, volunteered as an interpreter and was involved in regional and national elections. WWII saw her taking an active role as an air raid warden and supporter of our troops abroad. In the 60s she began working as a library clerk at North Haven High School where she worked with students as they completed research. Mary remained at NHHS until her retirement. Mary’s family will receive relatives and friends at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave, North Haven on Friday, November 5th, from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. at the North Haven Congregational Church, 28 Church St. North Haven. Interment will be in All Saints Cemetery, 700 Middletown Ave., North Haven immediately following the service.
