Martín López, 95, of New Haven, CT died peacefully on Monday, February 5, 2024 at Yale-New Haven Hospital with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Carmen Carrillo López. Martín was born in Isabela, Puerto Rico on January 29, 1929, a son of the late Baldomero López and the late Rosaura Vélez, and had resided in New Haven since 1958. He was a machinist at Connecticut Container in New Haven for forty years, retiring in 1998. Along with his wife Carmen, Martín was a longtime, active parishioner of St. John the Evangelist, St. Peter, Sacred Heart and St. Anthony Church community. He is also survived by a daughter, Annie Virginia López of New Haven, three sons, Victor Manuel López and Miguel Angel López of New Haven and Frank (Monique Turner-López) López of Suffolk, VA, his daughter-in-law Sherry López, six grandchildren, Martín López, III, Quiana, Emmari, Emani and Victor López, Jr. and Alicia (Teddy) Smith, seven great-grandchildren, Lavonte, Chanel, Myia, Melody and A.J. López, and Nas and Kelis Smith, and many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his son Martín López, Jr., three sisters, Fermina, Julia and Chola López, and six brothers, Hipolito, Serapio, Juan, Florencio, Catalino and José López. Martiín's family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, February 9th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. His funeral cortege will depart the funeral home on Saturday, February 10th at 8:15 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. in St. Anthony Church (Blessed Fr. McGivney Parish), 70 Washington Ave., New Haven. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, New Haven. Immediately following the committal service at Evergreen Cemetery, Martín's family invites everyone to join them back to St, Anthony Church hall for reflections and refreshments. washingtonmemorialfh.com
