Marilyn Bonilla Torres, 53, of Hamden, CT died peacefully at her home on Friday, January 19, 2024 with her loving family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Luís A. Torres, Jr. Marilyn was born in New Haven, CT on April 25, 1970, a daughter of the late Francisco and Gladys Pérez Bonilla, and had lived in New Haven for twenty seven years before moving to Hamden twenty six years ago. Marilyn worked for the City of New Haven, Board of Education as a paraprofessional at Fair Haven Middle School for twenty years, retiring in 2015. She was a long-time member of Star of Jacob Christian Church. Marilyn is survived by her daughter Priscilla Torres and son Luís Ariel Torres, III of Hamden, two sisters, Cecilia (Samuel) Cordero of Hamden and Norma Bonilla of New Haven, four brothers, Francisco “Frank” (Mirta) Bonilla of North Branford, Juan (Anita) Bonilla of Cheshire, Josue Bonilla of New Haven and Sammy (Zaida) Bonilla of West Haven, a granddaughter, Leilani Torres of New Haven, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her brother Elias Bonilla. Marilyn’s family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, January 24th from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Star of Jacob Christian Church (Iglesia Cristiana Estrella de Jacob), 506 Howard Ave., New Haven. A funeral service will take place at the church on Thursday, January 25th at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, New Haven.
