Mariano Echevarria Pérez, 80, of Hamden, formerly of New Haven died peacefully at home on Thursday, September 8, 2022 with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of forty five years to Ana García Pérez. Mariano was born in Adjuntas, Puerto Rico on April 20, 1942, a son of the late Mariano Echevarria García and the late Antonia Maria Pérez. He had resided in New Haven for most of his life before moving to Hamden last year. Mariano was a bus driver for the New Haven Bus Company for twenty years, and also worked at A-1 Toyota, New Haven for twenty years, retiring in 2013. His passions were fishing and doting on his grandchildren. Besides his wife Ana, Mariano is survived by two daughters, Igdalia Lynn Pérez of New Haven and Yvette Antonia Pérez and her fiancé Mike López of Hamden, two sons, Mariano (Lisette) Pérez of New Haven and David (Jennyfer Ríos) of Hamden, four sisters, Gudelia and Genoveva Maldonado of Adjuntas, Camelia Rodríguez of New Haven and Magaly (José Reyes) Rodríguez Reyes of Adjuntas, two brothers, Jerry Rodríguez of Clearwater, FL and Jaime Maldonado of Adjuntas, twenty grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his step-father, Jaime Maldonado, three sisters, Enery, Luz Aida and Ines Maldonado, two brothers, Luís and Amador Rodríguez, and a grandson, Carlos Antonio González. Mariano’s family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, September 13th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. A funeral service will take place Wednesday, September 14th at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, 769 Ella Grasso Blvd., New Haven. www.washingtonmemorialfh.com
