Maria Teresa Pagán, 82, of New Haven, CT passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, October 5th, 2025. She was the beloved wife of the late Francisco Pagán who predeceased her in April of 2003. Maria was born in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico on June 27th , 1943, a daughter of the late Victor Casillas and the late Modesta Vega, and had resided in New Haven for most of her life.
Maria is survived by three daughters, Marisol (Edgar) Cordero of Wallingford, and Migdalia (Juan A. Rodríguez) Pagán and Joanne Pagan King whom is widowed by her late husband Jeffrey King, Sr. both of New Haven. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Vicki Hernández, Juan “Frankie” Rodríguez,Edgar Cordero, Jr., Alex Cordero, Jeffrey King, Jr. and Eric King. Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren, Denise Hernández, Natasha Rodríguez, Yanni, Jayda, Jazmynn, Peyton, Kaylani and Dallas King, and Elías and Lucas Cordero. She was predeceased by her grandson Estéban “Steven” Rodríguez.
Maria had a deep love for music, enjoying artists like José Luís Miguel Cláss, Felipe Rodríguez, Vicente Fernández, and also Christian music. Above all, she cherished spending time with her family. Her warmth, generosity, and kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Maria’s family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, October 9th from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. A funeral service will take place at the funeral home at noon time. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, New Haven. www.washingtonmemorialfh.com
