Maria Antonio Osorio, 87, of New Haven died peacefully on Friday, November 19, 2021 at Yale-New Haven Hospital with her loving family by her side. Maria was born in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico on March 5, 1934, a daughter of the late Pablo Osorio and the late Constancia Rosa, and had resided in New Haven for the past twenty nine years. She was a teacher's aid in Puerto Rico for many years, and also served as a teacher's aid at Head Start of New Haven for ten years retiring in 2015. She was an active member of Iglesia de Dios, Inc. of New Haven. Maria's family wishes to extend a special thank you to Migdalia Castro, director of City of New Haven Elderly Services for all of her loving care and attention bestowed upon their mom and grandmother. Maria is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth Lozada of Loiza, Puerto Rico and Abigail "Viguita" Ojeda and her husband Nelson Osorio of Orange City, FL, seven sons, Hector Lozado and his wife Maritza Báez, Joel Ojeda and Samuel Ojeda and his wife Judi Nieves of New Haven, David Ojeda and his wife Sarita, German Ojeda and his wife Loida and Isaias Ojeda and his wife Omayra of Loiza, and Moises Ojeda and his wife Judith of Carolina, Puerto Rico, one brother Andres Velez of Texas, twenty eight grandchildren, fifty five great grandchildren, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by a daughter, Maria "Cuca" Lozada, one sister, Maria Angelica Osorio, and three grandchildren, Teddy and Abimelec del Gado and Armando Ojeda. Maria's family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, November 26th at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. A funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Saturday, November 27th at 9:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, New Haven. www.washingtonmemorialfh.com
