Margarita Ortíz

Margarita Ortíz, 85, of West Haven, CT died peacefully at her home on Wednesday, July 3, 2024 with her loving family by her side. She was the beloved wife of sixty five years to Herminio Meléndez. Margarita was born in Vega Baja, Puerto Rico on April 16, 1939, a daughter of the late Juan Ortíz and the late Maria Margarita Ortíz Vega and had resided in Vega Baja for all her life before moving to West Haven seven years ago. In addition to her husband Herminio, Margarita is survived by a daughter, Yolanda (Randall) Torres of West Haven, two sons, Herminio David (Zoraida) Meléndez of New Haven and Luís Antonio Meléndez of West Haven, two brothers, Miguel Ortíz Vega and Carlos Ortíz Vega of Vega Baja, four grandchildren, Randall Torres, Jr., Brian Torres, David Meléndez and Jonathan Meléndez, two great-grandchildren, Isabella and Abigail Meléndez, and many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by a sister, Rafaela Ortíz Vega and a brother, José Antonio Ortíz Vega.

Margarita's family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, July 7th from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. A funeral service will take place at the funeral home during visitation time. Burial will be private. washingtonmemorialfh.com
