Margarita Ayala, 86, of New Haven, CT died peacefully on Friday, March 10, 2023 at Yale-New Haven Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by three children, Juan Carlos Ruíz, Clara Rosner, and Maribel Kelly, and four grandchildren, Naila Courverthier, Chanel O’Neill, Donny Ruíz, and Giovanni Emestica. She was also the beloved great-grandmother to Taijianna Couverthier, Madison Ruíz, Dominick Ruíz, Zoe Couverthier, Owen O’Neill, and Alessandra Emestica. Margarita was an extraordinary woman who dedicated her life to her community and those she loved. She spent over thirty five years working as a domestic violence advocate, helping countless women survive the struggles of domestic violence and rebuild their lives. Anyone who knew Margarita, knew how deeply she cared for others, and how her home and her heart were always open to those who needed her. She especially showed her love through her Sunday dinners. She valued her family, and creating an environment that was welcoming, safe, and forgiving for everyone. She was simply an amazing woman! Margarita’s family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, March 18th from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. A funeral service will take place at the funeral home at 3:00 p.m. Burial will be private.
