Manuel Angel Rodríguez, 83, of Hamden, CT, formerly of New Haven, CT died peacefully at CT Hospice, Branford with his loving family by his side. Manuel was born in San Sebastián, Puerto Rico on June 21, 1942, a son of the late Manuel Rodríguez and the late Milagros Quintana. He moved to New York City in 1960 and had resided in New Haven for 63 years, and Hamden for the past year.
Manuel was a cabinet maker for several area cabinet shops for many years, retiring in 2002. Manuel’s loves in life were family time, Church, drawing pictures of architecture, cowboy movies and singing (especially Feliz Navidad). He loved shooting pool and playing competitively, and had multiple pool sticks. He was great at dominos and could fix anything whether car or household. He was always proud of his daughters’ accomplishments, and would share them with everyone.
Manuel is survived by three daughters, Marisol (Victor Acosta) Rodríguez-Acosta of West Haven, and Liz (Richard) Abate and Rebecca (Jason) Littlefield of Hamden, one sister, Gloria (Victor) Rodríguez of Toa Alta, Puerto Rico, six grandchildren, Marlisa (Efrain) Acosta, Frederick (Elisa) Rodríguez, Leo (Minuette) Rios, Ashlee Abate, Marlene (Noel) García and Sederick Acosta, seven great-grandchildren, Carmelo, Gabriel, Erik, Adilyn, Aria, Axel and Amina, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by three sisters, Carmela, Emerehilda and Ana Rodríguez.
Manuel’s family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, November 17th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. A funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Tuesday, November 18th at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Centerville Cemetery, Hamden. www.washingtonmemorialfh.com
