Manuel Cabán

Bishop Manuel Cabán, 68, of New Haven, CT, went to his eternal home on Sunday, March 16, 2025 with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Iris N. (Padilla) Cabán, who was by his side for twenty five years. Manuel was born in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, a son of the late Manuel Cabán and the late Carmen L. Vargas, and had resided in New Haven for most of his life.

In addition to his wife Iris, Manuel is survived by five daughters, Lydia, Ginnette, Merida, Jinnimarie and Jazmin, seven sons, Ricardo, Angel "Pepo", Manuel, Miguel, Omar C., Jimmy "Mito", Omar S., and one special one by choice Kevin Zapata.

Bishop Manuel's journey on earth was marked by his love and unflappable faith in God. His passing has left a void in his family, church and friends. He marked the lives of people doing mission work, spreading the word of God, which was his passion in Puerto Rico, Mexico, Guatemala, Nicaragua, and everywhere he went.

Bishop Manuel is a man identified with forgiveness. Through his experiences, he recounts in a simple and engaging way the stages of his life, his childhood, adolescence, and adulthood, always inclined to socialize, share and forgive.

The experiences and circumstances he had lived through over 25 years as a pastor allow us to see the full scope of his service to God and 100% dedicated to his ministry. This allowed him have wonderful and interesting experiences that fostered spiritual growth and strength.

Bishop Manuel's family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, March 21st from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Radiant Star of Jacob Christian Church (Iglesia Cristiana Estrella Resplandeciente de Jacob), 185 Chapel St., New Haven. A funeral service will take place at the church on Saturday, March 22nd at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, New Haven.
