Lydia Colón Báez

Lydia Colón Báez, 84, of New Haven, CT died peacefully at Apple Health & Rehabilitation Center, East Haven on Saturday, June 14, 2025 with her loving family by her side. Lydia was born in Manatí, Puerto Rico on November 24, 1940, a daughter of the late Teófanes Colón and the late Felipa Báez, and had resided in New York City for nine years before moving to New Haven in 1976. She worked for several manufacturing firms in the New Haven area as an assembler for many years including Circuit Wise in Hamden and Sandvick Manufacturing of North Haven.

She is survived by two daughters, Lillian (Félix) Márquez of Tampa, FL and Beatris Romero of New Haven, four grandchildren, Félix (Mary) Márquez and Josué Márquez of Tampa, Caleb (Jahinelis Suárez) Márquez of Meriden and Abbie Natal of New Haven, four great-grandchildren, Alexander Márquez and Ellah Marie Márquez and Caleb Jaxiel Márquez Suárez and Liliana Márquez Suárez, and many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her daughter Celia Rodríguez, six sisters Aurelia, Luisa, Carmen, Genoveva, Belén and Olga Colón Báez, and three brothers, Américo Colón Báez, Mateo Colón Báez and Wenceslao Colón Báez.

Lydia's family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, June 19th from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Una Iglesia para la Ciudad, 99 East Pearl St., New Haven. A funeral service will be conducted at the church during visitation time. Burial will be in Manatí, Puerto Rico at a later date. Lydia Colón Báez, de 84 años, residente de New Haven, Connecticut, falleció pacificamente en el Centro de Salud y Rehabilitación Apple de East Haven el sábado 14 de junio de 2025, acompañada por su querida familia. Lydia nació en Manatí, Puerto Rico, el 24 de noviembre de 1940, hija de los difuntos Teófanes Colón y Felipa Báez, y residió en la ciudad de Nueva York durante neuve años antes de mudarse a New Haven en 1976. La familia de Lydia recibirá a familiares y amigos el jueves 19 junio, de 5:00 a 9:00 p.m., en Una Iglesia para la Ciudad, ubicada en 99 East Pearl St., New Haven. El servicio fúnebre se realizará en la iglesia durante el velatorio. El entierro se realizará en Manatí, Puerto Rico, mas adelante.
