Lydia María Báez Rodríguez

Lydia María Báez Rodríguez, 87, of North Haven, Connecticut died peacefully at her home on Sunday, June 14, 2026 with her loving family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Francisco Rodríguez López. Lydia was born in Santa Isabel, Puerto Rico on December 30, 1938, a daughter of the late Antonio Báez de Jesús and the late María Dolores Rodríguez and had resided in Santa Isabel for most of her life before moving to North Haven eight years ago. 

Lydia enjoyed spending time with family and friends and praying the rosary. She also enjoyed cooking with wood, watching soap operas, going to the casinos, clothes shopping, going to the nursery to buy flowers, and getting her nails done. 

She is survived by three daughters, Awilda (Hector) Quiles, Evangelista "Eva" (Carlos) Astacio and Noemi (Luís Rivera) Santiago of New Haven, three sons, Jorge (Amaris Rivera) López of East Haven, Manuel Cartagena of New Haven and Ángel Mateo of North Haven, twenty six grandchildren, thirty seven great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, and many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by a daughter, Elisa Santiago, two sons, Francisco Rodríguez and Ramón Santiago, and one sister, Ana María Báez.

Lydia's family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, June 17th from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. Additional funeral services will take place in Santa Isabel, Puerto Rico at a later date. washingtonmeorialfh.com

Lydia María Báez Rodríguez, de 87 años, de North Haven, Connecticut falleció tranquilamente en su hogar el domingo 14 de junio de 2026, rodeada de su amorosa familia. Fue la querida esposa del fallecido Francisco Rodríguez López. Lydia nació en Santa Isabel, Puerto Rico, el 30 de diciembre de 1938, hija del fallecido Antonio Báez de Jesús y la fallecida Maria Dolores Rodríguez, y vivió en Santa Isabel la mayor parte de su vida antes de mudarse a North Haven hace ocho años. 

A Lydia le gustaba pasar tiempo con la familia y los amigos y rezar el rosario. También le gustaba cocinar con leña, ver telenovelas, ir a los casinos, comprar ropa, ir a la tienda de plantas a comprar flores y hacerse la uñas.

Le sobreviven tres hijas, Awilda (Hector) Quiles, Evangelista "Eva" (Carlos) Astacio y Noemi (Luís Rivera) Santiago de New Haven; tres hijos, Jorge (Amaris Rivera) López de East Haven, Manuel Cartagena de New Haven y Ángel Mateo de North Haven; veintiséis nietos, treinta y siete bisnietos, cinco tatataranietos y muchos sobrinos, sobrinas, sobrinos nietos, sobrinos bisnietos, primos y amigos que la quieren mucho. La precedieron en la muerte una hija, Elisa Santiago, dos hijos, Francisco Rodríguez y Ramón Santiago, y una hermana, Ana María Báez. 

La familia de Lydia recibirá a familiares y amigos el miércoles 17 de junio de 5:00 a 8:00 p.m. en Funeraria Washington Memorial, 4 Washington Avenue, North Haven. Servicios funerarios adicionales se llevarán a cabo en Santa Isabel, Puerto Rico en un fecha posterior. washingtonmemorialfh.com
