Luz V. Rodríguez

Luz V. Rodríguez, 79, of New Haven, Connecticut died peacefully at Yale-New Haven, St. Raphael Campus on Friday, April 24, 2026 with her loving family by her side. Luz was born in Yabucoa, Puerto Rico on August 12, 1946, a daughter of the late Benedicta Rodríguez, and had resided in San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico for most of her life before moving to New Haven in 2023. 

Luz was a loving single mother who raised three children. She was a good neighbor who loved to dance, the beach, her virgin piña colada, and truly loved music. She was also an exceptional cook.

She is survived by her daughter Evelyn González and her husband Gamalier "Lenny" Estrada of New Haven, two sons, Fernando González of San Lorenzo and Edwin González of New Haven, six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

Luz's family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, May 1st from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. A funeral service will take place at the funeral home at 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, 769 Ella T. Grasso Blvd., New Haven. washingtonmemorialfh.com

Luz V. Rodríguez, de 79 años, de New Haven, Connecticut, falleció pacificamente en el Hospital Yale-New Haven, Campus San Rafael, el viernes 24 de abril de 2026, con su amorosa familia a su lado.

Luz nació en Yabucoa, Puerto Rico, el 24 de agosto de 1946, hija de la fallecida Benedicta Rodríguez, y vivió en San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico, durante la mayor parte de su vida antes de mudarse a New Haven en 2023.

Luz era una madre soltera cariñosa que crió a tres hijos. Era una buena vecina que amaba bailar, la playa, su piña colada virgen y realmente amaba la música. También era una cocinera excepcional.

Le sobriviven su hija, Evelyn González, y su esposo Gamalier "Lenny" Escobar de New Haven, dos hijos, Fernando González de San Lorenzo y Edwin González de New Haven, seis nietos, cuatro bisnietos, y dos tataranietos.

La familia de Luz recibirá a familiares y amigos el viernes 1 de mayo de 10:00 a.m. a 12:00 p.m. en la Funeraría Washington Memorial, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. El entierro seguirá en el Cementerio Evergreen, 769 Ella T. Grasso Blvd., New Haven. washingtonmemorialfh.com
