Luz Hernández Bermudez, 79, of Hamden, CT, formerly of New Haven died peacefully at Arden House, Hamden with her loving family by her side. Luz was born in Vega Baja, Puerto Rico on May 30, 1943, a daughter of the late Juan and Justina Hernández Rodríguez, and had resided in New Haven for more than fifty years before moving to Hamden five years ago. She is survived by three daughters, Evangeline Rivera and Angela Marrero of New Haven and Luz Santiago of Portland, OR, one son Radames García of New Haven four sisters, Epifania Vega and Rosa Ojeda of New Haven, Maria Maldonado of Spring Hill, FL and Genoveva Hernández of Providence, RI, two brothers, Juan (Carmen) Hernández and Pablo (Nereida) Hernández of Vega Baja, and many loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her daughter Sandra DeSousa, her son Edwin Hernández two grandchildren, George Cruz and Angilees DeSousa, two sisters Margarita Rosario and Yeya Rodríguez, and one brother, Victor Hernández. Luz's family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, March 16th from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Radiant Star of Jacob Christian Church (Iglesia Cristiana Estrella Resplandeciente de Jacob), 185 Chapel Street, New Haven. A funeral service will take place at the church on Friday, March 17th at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, New Haven. www.washingtonmemorialfh.com
