Luvidio Vélez, 88 of Wallingford, CT, formerly of New Haven, CT died peacefully at Complete Care of Meriden on Wednesday, March 12, 2025 with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Alicia (Cruz) Vélez. Luvidio was born in Utuado, Puerto Rico on April 14, 1936, a son of the late Marcelino and Carmen (Morales) Vélez and had resided in New Haven for most of his life before moving to Wallingford four years ago. He was a retired self-employed auto mechanic.
In addition to his wife Alicia, Luvidio is survived by two daughters, Carmen (Ray) Morales of Meriden and Virgin Vélez of West Haven, eight sons, Luvidio "Pete" (Lucy) Vélez, Jr. of Texas, Wilson (Janet) Vélez of Waterbury, Daniel, Heorito, Marcelino Vélez and Xavier Vélez of Wallingford, Orlando (Nancy) Vélez of Arizona and Roberto Vélez of New Haven, one sister, Teresa Olivera of Florida, eighteen grandchildren, and many loving great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by two sisters, Vanhella and Carmen Cordero and three brothers, Basilio, Margaro and Rosario Vélez.
Luvidio's family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, March 18th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Avenue, North Haven. A funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 19th at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery, North Haven. washingtonmemorialfh.com
