Ludgardo Rodríguez Ortíz

Ludgardo Rodríguez Ortíz, 60, of Hamden died peacefully on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at Yale-New Haven Hospital, St. Raphael Campus with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Evelyn Colón Rodríguez. Ludgardo was born in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico on March 14, 1962, a son of the late Juan Rodríguez and the late Catalina Ortíz. He had lived in Utuado, Puerto Rico for most of his life, New Haven for fifteen years, West Haven for eight years and Hamden for the past seven years. While in Puerto Rico, Ludgardo was a police officer in San Juan. He is also survived by two daughters, Dania Rodríguez Colón of West Haven and Francheska Rodríguez Colón of New Haven, two sons, Ludgardo (Johanna) Rodríguez Colón of Santa Isabel, PR and Keyvin (Yaritza Meléndez) Rodríguez Colón of East Haven, two sisters, Madeline Rodríguez Ortíz of Utuado and Katherine Rodríguez Ortíz of Trujillo Alto, PR, one brother, Johnny Rodríguez Ortíz of Utuado, eleven grandchildren, Christian, Crystal, Nehemias, Jaeliany and Kayla Rodríguez, Keyvin Rodríguez, Jr., Joel Rivera, Jason and Nicole Hernández, Dania Lashay Lyons and Taylor Lyons, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Ludgardo’s family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, November 18th from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Iglesia Cristiana Estrella Resplandeciente de Jacob (Radiant Star of Jacob Christian Church), 185 Chapel St., New Haven. Funeral and burial will take place in Utuado, PR at a later date.
