Luciano Romano Obituary

Luciano “Louie” Romano, 84 of Wallingford, formerly of North Haven died peacefully at his home on Saturday, February 25, 2023 with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of  sixty years to Concetta “Connie” Longobardi Romano. Luciano was born in Siracusa, Sicily, Italy on October 28, 1938, a son of the late Joseph and Angela Magnano Romano, and had resided in North Haven for fifty two years before moving to Wallingford seven and one half years ago. Luciano was a barber/hairstylist at Central Barber Shop, Wallingford where he worked with his lifelong friend Eugene Catala for fifty five years. He proudly served in the U.S. Army Reserves during the Vietnam Era. The Romano family wishes to send heartfelt thanks to the entire staff at Masonicare Hospice of Wallingford for the loving and dedicated care given to Luciano. Luciano was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He loved spending time with his family, because he loved them with all his heart.  He enjoyed dancing and antiquing with his wife, and also enjoyed playing soccer, cards, bowling and golfing with his family and friends. He was an avid New York Yankees and New York Giants fan. He was loved by everyone who knew him. In addition to his wife Connie, Luciano is survived by four daughters, Angela (Paul) Davenport of Hampton Beach, NH, Mary Romano of Cheshire, Tina (Peter) Durante of North Haven and Melissa (Justin) Raffone of Wallingford, one sister, Maria Desorbo of Branford, one brother, Sebastian Romano of East Haven two sisters-in-law, Lois Longobardi of South Dennis, MA and Marie Romano of New Haven, nine grandchildren, Joshua Davenport, Sam, Sydney and Jacob Simler, Peter and Gabe Durante, and Luke, Samuel and Emma Raffone, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by two brothers, Salvatore and Ceasar Romano. Luciano’s family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, March 1st from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. Everyone is invited to go directly to Church of the Resurrection, 115 Pond Hill Rd., Wallingford on Thursday, March 2nd for a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Entombment with Military Honors will follow in the mausoleum at All Saints Cemetery, North Haven.
