Juan Rafael Pagán Cantizani

Juan Rafael Pagán Cantizani, 68, of New Haven, Connecticut died peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loved ones on Friday, June 19, 2026. He was the beloved husband of twenty years to María Pellot. Juan was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico on September 5, 1957, son of the late Juan Pagán Garcia and the late Magdalena Cantizani and had resided in New Haven for the past twenty two years.

He was an auto body technician for more than fifty years, and during that time owned and operated several auto body shops in Puerto Rico and New Haven including María & Juan's Auto Body of West Haven which together with his wife Maria, he owned and operated for eighteen years. It was said that if your car could not be repaired, or if you wanted the job done right, Juan was the man to go to.

Juan was the muse and the inspiration of his family's lives that had been missing until he arrived. He was a great husband and a dreamer, a creator, a doctor, and a master tinsmith, a man and a gentleman. He was a father, a brother, an uncle, and a grandfather, and above all, a friend in every sense of the word. He was always willing to help without looking at who. He touched the hearts of many, and will be remembered with a lot of love.

In addition to his wife María, Juan is survived by three daughters, Elizabeth (Daniel Padilla) Pagán, Sheila Pagán and Jennifer Pagán, six sons, Juan Gabriel (Ruth) Pagán, Leonardo, Richard, Bryan, Jesús, and Erick Pagán, two step-sons, Daniel Rios and Michael Rivera, one sister, Janet Pagán, one brother, Jesús Pagán, and many grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter, Omayra Pagán.

Juan's family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, June 23rd from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. Words of comfort will be shared during visitation time. Burial will be private. washingtonmemorialfh.com

Juan Rafael Pagán Cantizani, de 68 años de New Haven, Connecticut, falleció pacificamente en su hogar, rodeado de sus seres querideos, el viernes 19 de junio de 2026. Era el amado esposo durante veinte años de María Pellot. Juan nació en San Juan, Puerto Rico, el 5 septiembre de 1957, hijo del difunto Juan Pagán y de difunta Magdalena Cantizani, y había vivido en New Haven durante los últimos veintidós años.

Fue técnico en carrocería por más de cincuenta años, y durante ese tiempo fue dueño y operó varios talleres de carrocería en Puerto Rico y New Haven, incluyendo María y Juan's Carrocería en West Haven, que junto con su esposa María, él fue dueño y manejó durante dieciocho años. Se decía que si tu carro no podía repararse, o si querías que le trabajo se hiciera bien, Juna era el hombre a quien acudir.

Juan fue la musa y la inspiración de la vida de su familia que había estado asuente hasta que él llegó. Era un gran esposo y soñador, un creador, un hombre y un caballero. Era un padre, un hermano, un tío un abuelo, y sobre todo, un amigo en todo el sentido de la palabra. Siempre estaba dispuesto a ayudar sin importar a quién. Tocó el corazón de muchos y será recordado con mucho cariño.

Además de su esposa María, Juan deja sobrevivientes a tres hijas, Elizabeth (Daniel Padilla) Pagán, Sheila Pagán y Jennifer Pagán, seis hijos, Juan Gabriel (Ruth) Pagán, Leonardo, Richard, Bryan, Jesús y Erick Pagán, dos hijastros, Daniel Ríos, y Michael Rivera, una hermana, Janet Pagán, un hermano, Jesús Pagán, y muchos nietos. Lo precidió en la muerte una hija, Omayara Pagán.

La familia de Juan recibirá a familiares y amigos el martes 23 de junio de 5:00 a 8:00 p.m. en Funeraria Washington Memorial, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. Durante la visita se compatirán palabras de consuelo. El entierro será privado. washingtonmemorialfh.com
